Ryomen Sukuna : The Disgraceful One Curse King

0

Ryomen Sukuna : A vast, bloody mess of a modern shonen manga without a single villain longer than Ryomen Sukuna’s shadow. The “curse king”.

Ryomen Sukuna is more than a villain;he is a calamity in human (or, seemingly, four-armed) form. Sukuna breaks the usual norm of “Inner Demon” portrayed by Gege Akutami in Jujutsu Kaisen, which has been seen in other shows such as Naruto or Bleach. He is not an evil soul that wants to be good, nor is he evil because of his life experiences. He is the highest form of self-gratification, in that he does not consider others in any way, and all he wants is his own happiness, displeasure and a hamburger meal with a human being occasionally.

  1. Myth and Man – The Origin of the King of Curses : To gain a proper understanding of Ryomen Sukuna, it is necessary to go back a thousand years to the Heian Era which was regarded as the Golden era of Jujutsu. Ryomen Sukuna was a human sorcerer during the Heian period. “Human” is used very loosely here because the character was an extremely terrifying creature with four arms and two faces and caused terror among human beings at that time, including the best style of sorcerers in the world.

The actual legends : According to the Nihon Shoki, Ryomen Sukuna had two pairs each of arms and legs, each of which was linked to one of his two separate faces. Some of the legends describe him as a hero who fought the tyranny of the emperors; but in Jujutsu Kaisen, Ryomen Sukuna is depicted as a great evil, beyond the control of any person or force, who could only be delayed from bringing about destruction.

Transformed into a curse :

Ryomen Sukuna didn’t die in a natural way. He basically transformed himself (through his soul) into a Cursed Object (which essentially makes him immortal). He basically split his soul up into 20 fingers, which are indestructible, and have basically been preserved in gravewax as a result of it. Basically, through this act, Sukuna demonstrated that he was a true master of jujutsu (he pretty much understood how the soul worked way before modern day sorcerers even knew what a soul is). Because of the fact that Ryomen Sukuna reincarnated into his current state via Yuji Itadori’s body, this is what started the plot of the show. It turned a random high schooler’s heroic act of impulse into a ticking clock for the end of the world.

Aesthetic Terrorism, Design, and Symbolism The design of Ryomen Sukuna is truly an example of how one can tell a story through visuals. Whether he is in the body of Yuji Itadori or in his Heian form, his presence is accentuated by black lines that appear on his face and body similar to primitive tribal tattoos. The Eyes: He has another pair of eyes under the primary eyes, which is an indication that he can see things much more clearly and that he can see things that others cannot along with Cursed Energy.

Heian Appearance: Behemoth is the word I’d use to describe Sukuna’s appearance in his original form. With his four arms,he can attack all the time, and he can also keep making his cool hand signs for his special moves at the same time. That gives him such a big advantage when fighting another person straight up that it would be nearly impossible to defeat him in a fair fight.

Kimono: He usually has a loose, feminine kimono, and the way he moves in it is both creepy and blase in the way it doesn’t match the violence of his actions. Because of how far above the concept of a “threat” he sees himself, the Kimono is so casual because there isn’t really any need for him to wear any armor or protective clothing to defend himself from anyone.

The philosophy of the selfishness :

Ryomen Sukuna is like a great and powerful machine, because everything that he believes ,that is survival of the fittest. In the eyes of Sukuna, strength is all that exists. If you’re weak you’ll be killed immediately by those who are strong and don’t deserve to complain about being miserable.

A Hierarchy without Strength is Abysmal:

His beliefs make him in direct opposition with the main characters of this series. Where Yuji’s goal is to ensure that individual soul receive a “proper death”. and also has a core belief in relationships of souls but there Sukuna sees the human race as being just insects. He has no hate for the humans but doesn’t see them as equal level. Ryomen Sukuna’s interaction with Jogo, the a prime example of this. After defeating Jogo in battle. Sukuna provides jogo with a rare gesture of “approval. ” and telling him that “stand proud, you are strong. ” But this is the really wasn’t a moment of mercy from Ryomen Sukuna; rather, it was more the style of a king complimenting an insect that has stung him.

Malevolent shrine and Black Box:

Ryomen Sukuna’s Cursed Technique (Shrine) is a very simple technique that executes a tremendous amount of damage. This Shrine slashes is two types and basically It can cut anything.

Dismantle: It is a simple slashing move typically performed on objects and less powerful sorcerers.

Cleave: A single swing that is adjusts its power level to match the strength/curse energy of its target and ensure it will be a one-hit kill.

The fire mystery :

A new and frightening new aspect of Ryomen Sukuna’s powers were demonstrated during the Shibuya Incident. By saying the word “Open (the manga portrays this with the black box symbol)” he was able to utilize fire in a way that even exceeds what Jogo does. This may indicate that “Shrine” was more than just cutting, it might be a cooking themed technique, since he can “cutup” and “cook” his enemies.

Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine

Unlike most Domain Expansions, Ryomen Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine is not a “divine technique”that creates a cloak around thespace where it exists, but actually creates the domain in the real world, giving an exit in exchange for an exceptionally large radius of occurrence (200 meters).Once

the domain is casted, everything within the 200 meters radius will be subject to constant, endless barrage of Cleave and Dismantle. They will continue to Cleave and Dismantling everything until everything in the Shibuya district reduces to dust.

The Vessel Dynamic: Itadori vs. Fushiguro

Most of the tension in the series is due to Ryomen Sukuna being “imprisoned” in Yuji Itadori. Yuji is unusual cage in the sense that he can hold down Sukuna’s soul. This made Sukuna very interested in Megumi Fushiguro.

Sukuna’s vision of the Ten Shadows Technique was through Megumi, and he saw it as a “backdoor” to becoming fully incarnate. His patience is legendary; he waited several months until he had created a “Binding Vow” with Yuji and then attacked when Megumi’s will became completely shattered. When Sukuna moved his soul into Megumi, he gained more than just a new physical body – he had access to Mahoraga, the sole shikigami which could adjust itself to whatever situation presented itself.

The Shinjuku Showdown: Gojo Vs Sukuna : The battle between Satoru Gojo and Sukuna is the climax of Sukuna’s storyline. This was no ordinary battle, it was the battle between the two strongest. During the fight, Sukuna basically showcased his supreme intelligence; he used Megumi’s soul as an alternative solution for bearing the burden of Gojo’s “Infinite Void”.while

Mahoraga was learning to adapt to Gojo’s “Infinity”. The conclusion of the battle (i.e. the World Cutting Slash) is another evidence of Sukuna’s capacity to adapt; he did not simply cut Gojo, he cut the space in which Gojo was located. this victory has cemented Ryomen Sukuna as the ultimate adversary. he did not win through “cheating” (although some fans argue otherwise), he won through his superior comprehension of the basic laws of cursed energy.

Why do we love a monster? :

Why does a general fan base love a character that in all sense of the word is a cannibal who has murdered numerous people. The Ultimate Honesty of Life (and living): Basically Sukuna wants to eat, fight and then be bored. No need for any written rules about how to do those things. The Ultimate Competency in Life: When you have that type of honesty, you can be the best at EVERYTHING and it’s going to draw everyone in to watch you. Essentially, the “hype” factor is full throttle when Sukuna takes over because everything goes BOOM. The music changes, things look cooler, and you’re like, “uh oh, something bad is going to happen!”.

Conclusion: Legacy of the King Ryomen Sukuna is a Force that is greater than the best bad guy ever created! He is the “ultimate” level of Power for all characters within the Universe of Jujutsu Kaisen! He is the ultimate representation of what a Sorcerer is capable of achieving if they completely forsake their humanity. With the series ending soon, Sukuna will be the final obstacle to be overcome. Why? Because no matter if his defeat comes through the combined strength of all the descendants that “suck” (to put it bluntly) or if he chooses to simply burn the Earth just because Sukuna’s legacy will be intact. The “King of Curses”, he is what all Shonen antagonists should aspire to be, and he is a representation of the fact that while you fight in the realm of curses that there is no mercy, just blades that are cold and sharp.
